Food Safety Alert!
Don't risk your customer's health by using anything other than a FLORIDA approved program like TRAINSAFE
Don't risk your customer's health by using anything other than a FLORIDA
approved program.

TrainSafe urgently alerts all Florida restaurants to beware of food safety
training sellers who are not approved by the DBPR. In order to check the
validity of a training program click here, to view the DBPR list of approved
programs in Florida (See Chez Pierre/TrainSafe on page one for TrainSafe's
approval).  TrainSafe is happy to provide a DBPR approval letter upon
request.  As long as the food handler safety program is on this list, it is
State-approved.

TrainSafe believes that you should NOT have to purchase training materials
before seeing if the program is suitable for you and your restaurant.  Some
companies claim to sell a training manual, but you may only purchase it,
if you purchase the certificate.  Don't be fooled.  Demand that your food
safety provider send you a sample manual and training supplies before you
purchase anything.   TrainSafe provides the training manual free of charge,
so that you know how excellent TrainSafe's program is before you spend a
dime.

Restaurants across Florida have been telling us that they believe that
TrainSafe is the the BEST food safety training program because it's witty,
informative, and highly engaging. And, You won't find another company that
is confident enough in their materials that they will give away the training
supplies for free. We are sure that once you start training the TrainSafe
Way, you will stick with it. So, Train Smarter, Train Greener, Train Cheaper,
Train your staff with TrainSafe today!

Florida Food Safety Laws Are Working!

Even though some reports like HealthInspections.com continue to rank Florida as the “Most Dangerous State for Eating Out” because of the number of foodborne illness outbreaks in Florida, we may actually be safer than any other state in terms of restaurant food safety.  But, when Florida is compared to other states, even large states like California or Texas, Florida does report more foodborne illness cases. However, many reports are simply looking at the numbers and not necessarily comparing similarly derived statistics to each other. For example, in Florida all cases of suspected and confirmed foodborne illness outbreaks are reported, but other states may only report the confirmed cases. Furthermore, Florida is one of the only states that has a uniform state-wide inspection and reporting mechanism. Most states divide the responsibility of restaurant regulation to various local jurisdictions, which makes aggregate state-wide data impossible to interpret.

This is not to suggest, however, that restaurant owners and the State are not taking the issue of food safety seriously. Since the state began requiring that all food-handlers be certified in food safety, the number of restaurant related foodborne illness outbreaks has steadily decreased. In fact, the number of restaurant related foodborne illnesses dropped from 116 in 2006 to 88 in 2007.

So, although Florida may continue to receive negative and unsavory press about the safety of our food and restaurants, the truth is Florida has the most progressive aggressive food safety regulations in the Country.   And, it is only because of restaurant owners like you that we have made such tremendous improvements in how we serve the citizens of and visitors to Florida.

TrainSafe is committed to helping you in this constant quest, and we believe that you can do that inexpensively and more environmentally friendly. Allow TrainSafe to become your new food safety provider and let’s help keep Florida the best state to dine in!

Be Wary of Online Training
Only use programs that require certified managers to conduct training

As you know, Florida Statute requires that a certified food manager conduct all food-handler trainings. Unfortunately, there are some online companies who are not requiring a certified manager to conduct the training and are taking advantage of restaurants who are unaware of this clause. Typically, these companies present the text directly to the employee and then require the employee to pass a small test to receive the certification. Florida, however, requires that the certified manager conduct the training to fulfill the requirement. The DBPR has also confirmed that these types of programs are not compliant and will be voided when found.

TrainSafe is fully compliant with Florida Statutes and is a Florida-approved food-handler safety certifcation program. If you trained in the past with a company that you feel may not have been in compliance, give TrainSafe a call today to train your employees the safer, greener and more economical TrainSafe way!
