Florida Law:
1.    Florida Statute 509.049 mandates all food service workers shall be trained using a Florida approved food safety program

2.    A public food service establishment has 60 days from the date of hire to train all new employees

3.    Original Certificate issued by approved provider required for proof of training

4.    Training Certificate is good for three years from date of training

5.    Training Certificate must be issued in the form of a wall certificate and a wallet certificate

6.    The restaurant’s certified professional food manager may perform the training

7.    Trained employees must be submitted back to the provider (TrainSafe) for input into the State's food safety trained employee database within 30 days of training

TrainSafe Instructions:

TrainSafe® offers restaurants the ability to train foodhandlers easily, effortlessly and enexpensively.  TrainSafe uses the State-Approved food safety program of Chez Pierre.  This program has been designed for easy implementation within your restaurant by using your certified food manager as the trainer.  The TrainSafe® book can be shared and re-used and we recommend one book per 3 employees. You may also sign-up (sign up form) to receive free access to the PDF version of the book. 

It is required that you purchase and maintain a certificate from
TrainSafe® for each trained foodhandler. This certificate is valid for three years.
The inspector will be looking for an ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE, not a copy.
Upon the completion of the TrainSafe® training, we will need a complete training
roster of the TrainSafe® employees. Please provide the roster with the following
information:
• Foodhandler Name
• Date of Birth
• Certified Professional Food Managers Name
• Date of Training
• Name of Restaurant
